About Western Communications

Althea Blackburn-Evans is the Chief Communications Officer at Western, overseeing an award-winning team that comprises four units: Brand Strategy & Integrated Marketing, Strategic Communications, Editorial Strategy & Media Relations, and Advancement Communications & Marketing.

Prior to joining Western in 2020, Althea spent 21 years at the University of Toronto in a range of leadership roles across the institution – including the faculties of Engineering and Kinesiology & Physical Education, and the offices of the Vice-President, Research and Vice-President, Communications.

Throughout her nearly 30-year career in higher education, Althea’s passion has always been the people: the inspiration they provide, the impact they have, and the power that comes from a purposeful and engaged university community.
